Store Norske is the northernmost mining company in the world. Store Norske was established in 1916 and currently operates three coal mines on Svalbard: Svea Nord and Lunckefjell by Svea and the Gruve 7 mine, in the valley of Adventdalen outside Longyearbyen. With 320 employees, Store Norske is the largest cornerstone enterprise on Svalbard. The company is an important contributor to a stable and robust community in Longyearbyen.
